Meeting of the Spatial Management Committee

On 18-19 September 2022, a meeting of the Spatial Management Committee was held in Potsdam, in which the West Pomeranian Voivodeship is represented by the Regional Spatial Planning Office. The Spatial Committee is part of the Polish-German Intergovernmental Commission for Regional and Cross-border Cooperation. The Committee discusses current topics of cooperation in the field of spatial planning  and prepares political proposals for the Polish and German governments. The members of the committee are: the Republic of Poland (MFiPR), the Federal Republic of Germany (BMI), the Lubuskie Voivodeship, the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, the Wielkopolska Voivodeship, the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, the states of Berlin and Brandenburg, the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Free State of Saxony.

During the meeting, the effects of the implementation of pilot projects of the Territorial Agenda were presented (including the project „Understanding how sector policies shape spatial (im)balances Region-focused Territorial Impact Assessment” conducted by the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy) and the status of the implementation of cross-border local and regional projects implemented as part of the German-Polish model project (MORO) „Integrated planning in the common area of ​​connections” was presented. A permanent item on the agenda of the Committee is the current exchange of information on the development and updating of planning documents of the participating voivodeships and federal states. The first day was also devoted to presentations of projects co-financed from the Interreg program funds, which, through the implementation of objectives, contribute to the implementation of the Common Future Concept 2030 for the Polish-German area of ​​interactions. This part presented partial results of the project led by the Regional Office for Spatial Planning entitled „Cross-border monitoring model – innovative ways of obtaining data in the Szczecin Metropolitan Region” – INT179. In addition to the presentation of the project’s works and products, participants were also invited to participate in the project’s final conference, which will be held in Szczecin on October 18-19, 2022.

On the second day of the Committee’s session, the Minister of Housing, Urban Development and Construction of the Federal Republic of Germany, Ms. Klara Geywitz, and the Minister of Infrastructure and Planning of the Federal State of Brandenburg, Mr. Guido Beermann, opened the session.
